Privacy and cookies
A clear summary of what data GeoGames uses, what is stored during games, and how cookies, maps, and advertising work.
Quick summary
GeoGames is a multiplayer game based on maps and Street View. It does not require an account and does not ask for your real GPS location to play: the coordinates handled are virtual start positions, Street View movement, map marks, and results.
The website uses technical cookies to keep the game session and remember the language. It may also use browser local storage for interface preferences, such as minimap size, GeoBingo board size, or side panel state.
GeoGames may show non-intrusive advertising to help maintain the service. Third-party ads are only loaded when the user chooses to allow ads; if they choose only what is necessary, only technical cookies and basic preferences are kept.
Game data GeoGames may store
For rooms to work, GeoGames may temporarily store technical and game information:
- Room code, technical client identifier, and connection status.
- Name or nickname chosen by the player inside the room.
- Team, role, ready/not ready status, and options configured by the host.
- Game mode, selected city/map, timers, rounds, radii, movement, and enabled rules.
- Virtual Street View or map position, orientation, checkpoints, hints, marks, votes, results, and final summary.
- In Hide and Seek: saved hiding spots, guesses, scores, rounds, and search state.
- In GeoBingo: board size, game view, difficulty, manual board words, marked squares, saved locations, yes/no votes, and validated result.
- Room chat messages and quick reactions, if used.
This data is used to run the game, synchronize players, calculate results, prevent technical errors, and maintain the multiplayer experience.
Cookies and local storage
GeoGames uses technical cookies and local preferences. Some are necessary to play and others only remember visual settings.

You can delete or block cookies from the browser. If you block technical cookies, some functions such as creating a room, joining, keeping a session, or remembering the language may stop working correctly.
Advertising and project support
GeoGames may show advertising to help cover technical costs such as Google Maps Platform, server, and maintenance. The current configuration prioritizes non-intrusive banners and native banners.
The community support notice also works as an advertising cookie notice. You can continue with advertising or choose Only what is necessary to keep only technical cookies and basic preferences.
When advertising is allowed, GeoGames may load advertising providers configured by the administrator to show non-intrusive banners or native banners. These providers may use cookies, identifiers, pixels, or equivalent technologies to show ads, measure campaigns, limit repetition, and prevent fraud.
If a third-party ad does not load, is blocked, or you choose only what is necessary, GeoGames may show its own support banners for JimXBCN, Twitch, Bits, or direct donations. These banners are first-party static images and do not load third-party advertising cookies.
On active game screens, GeoGames avoids placing advertising scripts over the map or Street View. The configurable exception is a fixed banner on the game side panel, if enabled by the administrator.
Advertising providers may process data such as IP, browser, device, visited pages, impressions, clicks, or anti-fraud signals according to their own policies. GeoGames does not sell personal data or create its own advertising profiles.
Google Maps and Street View
GeoGames uses Google Maps Platform to load maps, Street View, panoramas, visual routes, and coverage checks. When using these functions, your browser communicates with Google services.
Google may receive technical information necessary to provide the service, such as IP address, device/browser data, API usage, loaded maps, and Street View requests. This processing depends on Google and its terms/policies.
Data retention
Rooms and games are stored temporarily. The current configuration cleans inactive rooms after about 1 hour, finished rooms after about 6 hours, and finished empty rooms after a short period. These values may change to improve stability or performance.
Technical server logs, if present, may include IP, date, requested URL, browser, errors, and security events. They are used for diagnostics, security, and maintenance.
Your options and rights
- You can use a non-identifiable nickname if you do not want to use your real name.
- You can delete cookies and local storage from the browser.
- You can choose Only what is necessary in the cookies/ads notice to avoid loading third-party advertising.
- You can block third-party advertising, although this may show support messages or alternative spaces.
- You can request information, correction, or deletion of reasonably identifiable data by contacting us through the contact page.
This policy may be updated when GeoGames modes, advertising providers, cookies, or technical operation change.
